Russia, the Collective West, Diplomacy and the Near/Middle East Situation
In my view, Russia bears a certain responsibility at this moment to engage diplomatically in the ongoing crisis and political dynamics of the Near and Middle East. This is due to Russia’s relatively positive relations with Iran, Israel, and several Arab states. Russia is a relative diplomatic (and military) world power and should therefore use its position and relations to lead towards diplomatic talks. Between Israel, different Palestinian groups and neighbouring Arab states. And maybe, at least indirectly, with Iran and Syria.
The United States also holds a degree of responsibility in this regard, but their current diplomatic effectiveness appears to be limited. This is, amongst others, for these reasons:
a) It seems that the overall quality of diplomacy in the United States and the broader Western alliance has suffered a significant decline.
b) The West's primary focus currently revolves around the conflictzone in Ukraine. Using Ukraine and Ukrainians as proxy and instrument for a war against Russia. And the focus is indirectly also on China. Albeit in a counterproductive way—counterproductive for the current Western governments’ and the Neocons’ own objectives. And in general seemingly rather to the advantage of China.
Now we have the escalated Hamas terrorist attack on Israel. Western deep state structures/actors and Neocons may now be redirecting their attention towards Iran, yet again in a one-sided ideological and strategic manner. Which seems to be a wrong turn again. Such a shift could be detrimental not only to their own interests and often hyperbolic objectives, but also to the well-being of the peoples and people of the Near and Middle East.
